What You Need to Know About Rehearsal Dinner Invitations

By Doug Schlette

Wedding invitations are a big deal. Long after the wedding ends people hold onto the invitations. The invitation also helps set the stage for the overall wedding experience.

Just as the rehearsal dinner is a big part of the wedding, the rehearsal dinner invitations can be just as important as the wedding invitations when it comes to giving a positive impression on the event. This will also become a treasured memory and take a place in the family treasure chest.

One element of these invitations is to whom they're sent. It's pretty simple. People who have a place in the wedding receive an invite to the rehearsal dinner. This includes the parents of the bride and groom, as well as the bridal party, and any other family and friends who the bride and groom think should attend. Don't forget the priest, minister or official who oversees the ceremony. Keep the list relatively small, limited only to those who have responsibilities during the wedding.

The design and printing of these invitations is important. Often it's the very same company responsible for the wedding invitations. It makes good sense. It's a lot easier to deal with one vendor. This will also mean a consistent look between all the invitations. The same shop might have great ideas on a pattern to work off the main invitations.

Remember too that bulk means cheaper. The vendor may offer a discount if all the work is given to them. This dinner, though, is usually planned and executed by the groom's parents. Letting them oversee a new design might make them happier. A different design may also compliment the original wedding invitations.

A big part of the wedding is the rehearsal dinner. It's almost like a free throw in basketball. It seems pretty mundane, but if handled correctly the rehearsal dinner invitations add an important element to the wedding, while if handled poorly the entire wedding could be ruined.
