Ashlee Simpson in the World of Punk Style

By Alex Pecklen

Young American singer Ashlee Simpson became quite famous over the last five years. She is Jessica Simpsons younger sister and though both celebs took up singing, I think Ashlee has succeeded much more than her elder sister. These celebrities are very different in their style as well. Thus Ashlee Simpson worships punk fashion and among her most loved designers are Alexander McQueen, Vans, Marc Jacobs, Urban Outfitters, Free People and others, while Jessica prefers glamour fashion and style.

She prefers casual street style in her everyday life, usually wearing denim sere jeans, skater punk style hooded sweatshirts and slip-on shoes or sneakers.

Punk fashion has been a fast spreading trend over the years, getting much popular as the style of Ashlee Simpson as well. Literally it is the way of dressing that is most appropriately related to the punk subculture. As the punk subculture arose in the early nineteen seventies, it became obvious the fashion industry would pick it up.

Famous British designer Vivienne Westwood has actually invented punk style and thus she influenced punk fashion like nobody else. Punk fashion at that times consisted of vulgar clothes, studded jeans and tattered jackets, disputable images and various anarchy symbols all over.

The bondage style came a little later and brought its weird aggressive clothes and hairstyles. Who could ever forget those leather and chain straps over tapered jeans, and of course radically dyed hair and defiant sets.

Ten years later, punk fashion went though some noticeable changes, with the shock factor remaining as the main goal. Then plaid skirts and ragged jeans, heavy combat boots, piercing and tattoos, Mohawks and spikes burst into punk fashion and streets.

Today, so many things have changed. And although the general population of punk subculture followers prefer modern punk fashion and usually wear simple T-shirts and hoodies, the Do It Yourself clothing style is hosting the todays fashion ball. But the original punk look back in the seventies will remain in the heart of every punk.
