Ecard Crazy

By James Gilbert Pynn

Its that time of year again. You know, that time of the year to those things and send those other things. God, I love this time of year. What time of year is it? Its whatever time it is when the people around you start doing interesting things and having occasions and birthdays and what not. People who are doing important things and moving on with their lives surround you. Getting married, having birthdays, being lonely " the people in your life are busy, busy people.

Don't be the speed bump in someone's day. Don't send snail mai! Be hip " get with it, lay down some jive. You need to get on the Web 2.0 bandwagon and start doing every from the dungeon of your office or home. No need to go get something to send someone. Just get online, find an ecard and send it with relish. Or send a few. Theyre usually free and usually funny.

Be an enabler and enable someone to know you cared enough to send condolences, though theyre typically not funny, greetings, or congratulations. They'll say, "What a guy!" What a country! Or, if you just need the semblance of human contact, you can just send one because you can. Online greeting cards are all the rage. Trust me. Theyre so hip, youll need a walker.

I can't stress enough how easy this all is. Or can I. I am starting to get a little light-headed. I mean, I send hundred of ecards every day to people I dont even know! Just choose the one that tickles your fancy, enter an email address, and karma rewards you. Someone you know having a bad day? Its possible you, know " youre not the only one who has bad days. Send him or her a little pick-me-up!

As Bob Dylan once sang, the times are a changin. He said that, didnt he? Or was it Barry Manilow? Either way, the times are changing and paper is out. Electronics are in. Online greeting cards " who knew? Obviously someone did or they wouldnt be there. Im digressing, to be sure, but I just want to make sure you send some ecards for crying out loud! Im concerned about the state of the world and I think we can all get along together that much better if we were all laughing. Or something.
