Cheetah Print Trends

By Jason Moorstedt

Cheetah print fabric has seen its share of ins and outs in the world of fashion, and its currently an in. At a time when standing out and being different is the norm, cheetah prints definitely fit the call. Bold and attention-grabbing, they can add zest to any look, but you dont want to overdo it, either.

Cheetah print makes a particular and strong sort of statement, so make sure you use it accordingly. Go for it if youre point is bold and different, but if youre hoping for calm and collected, try something else. Cheetah print isnt just about clothes, and here are some dos and donts for this animal pattern:

- Less is more. Dont overdue the use of a print, and dont mix and match between prints; if you do, you risk being over-the-top and gaudy.

- Newer cheetah prints come in different colors, and each color says a different thing. A bright pink is feminine and fun, a green is energetic, and the classic yellow or orange is (relatively) more toned down. The same as above goes for different colored-prints: dont mix them!

- Believe it or not, cheetah prints can be classy and chic. Make sure the fabrics wildness is tamed by a sophisticated style. Go for a floor-length gown with simple jewelry, or a solid colored outfit with a sleek cheetah scarf.

- Animal prints can be a fun addition to a room. Again, dont overdo it, but a cheetah print can be inspiring and invigorating in a room, and make for a vibrant environment.

- Cheetah prints also grace the surfaces of bags, scarves, shoes and bangles. You can even find cheetah covered journals, or make your own. These accessories make a great accented addition if youre into the full-blown cheetah phenomenon.

And remember, if youre not into the cheetah print phenomenon, its okay. There are thousands of other fashions to choose from, and its more important that you feel comfortable with a design than it is to worry about whats current and whats old.
