Top 10 Sunblock Tips

Sunblock is used by millions to help stop sun burn and skin cancer. However, if you do not have the proper sunscreen, it will not stop sun burn or skin cancer. Using these tips, you can stop sunburn and protect yourself against skin caner.

Tip #1 Use Sun Block With A SPF Of 30 Or Higher

SPF 30 provides a defense from sun burn and skin cancer. It takes 300 minutes to get sunburned with SPF 30 assuming your skin gets burned in 10 minutes of sunlight. SPF 15 will offer sun protection for 150 minutes

Tip #2 Make Sure To Use A Broad Spectrum Sun Block

Broad spectrum sun blocks protect both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are present even when there is no sun and can lead to skin cancers. UVB rays are present when there is sun light out. People tan with UVB and UVB causes sun burn and also cancer if the skin in not protected.

Tip #3 Sunbock Needs To Be Applied Frequently To Offer Proper Protection

Sunscreen is broken down by water. This even happens to waterproof sunblock. Frequently apply sunblock at least one time per hour if you are near or in water. Use the sunscreen daily.

Tip #4 Apply Sunscreen in the shade.

UVA rays from the sun are still penetrating your skin even though you are not in the sunlight.

Tip #5 Oxybenzone should not be in your sunscreen.

Oxybenzone is a hazardous ingredient in many sunscreens. This ingrident has shown possible links to skin cancer. Sunscreens that contain Zinc Oxide or Titanium Oxide should be chosen instead.

Tip #6 New Sun Screen Should Be Purchased Yearly

Most sunscreens do not achieve the same level of sun protection after one year of time. The sunblock loses its strength over a period of time.

Tip #7 Take Some Time Off At 12:00PM

The proper time to get out of the sun is 12:00PM. The rays from the sun are the much stronger during the 12:00PM to 3:00PM time period.

Tip #8 Sun Glasses, Tight Shirts and Hats Need To Be Warn

UV sunglasses protect your eyes from the sunlight, scalp protection can be achieved by wearing a hat and a tight shirt protects your body from the sun light.

Tip #9 Going To The Beach Requires Extra Protection

Sun block may need to be reapplied more frequently since the sand and the water reflect the sun creating a stronger UVB ray. Higher altitudes also gives the sun more intensity.

Tip #10 Water Should Be Consumed Frequently

Water keeps your skin hydrated and improves the protection of your sun block.
