TNA Wrestling - Part 2

By Brett Fitzpatrick

A new type of match has also been introduced for the X Division championship - The Ultimate X match; it's a high flying and high risk version of something much like a Ladder match. The difference is the X Division championship is suspended above the ring on two intersecting wires, thus forming an "X".

Another aspect which separates TNA from the WWE is the amount of shoot angles that TNA runs. By catering to a more niche and complex audience, TNA has allowed itself to blur the line between the sports entertainment world and the scripted formulaic one. Shoot angles use actual MMA or Wrestling and the results are, usually, not scripted.

By using the audience's knowledge of Kayfabe (the scripted and acknowledged series of events that are due to occur in professional wrestling - the suspension of disbelief which is used for all scripted drama) to completely subvert what they expect to happen. Thus openly recognizing the booking team and the hierarchy which is found in both the WWE and TNA.

TNA is well recognized as having a good mix of established wrestling veterans paired alongside with tag teams, exciting cruiserweights and female wrestlers. In comparison to the WWE, TNA focuses mostly on actual wrestling as opposed to out-of-ring angles, thus meaning the TNA wrestlers generally have a better wrestling ability.

TNA also consists of mixed former WCW and WWE wrestlers along with their own talent. Superstars from WWE and WCW include Scott Steiner, Booker T, Kurt Angle, the Dudley Boys, AJ Styles, Matt Morgan, Sting, Samoa Joe, Abyss and Christian.

With the introduction of the TNA DVD's, the TNA brand became more accessible outside of the United States and those countries that don't air TNA Impact! (Such as New Zealand) and opened up the market for TNA to expand.
