Choosing the Place Card Holder that's perfect for a Wedding

By Aaron H.

Planning a wedding involves such a huge number of seemingly minor details capable of creating a major disaster if not handled properly that it boggles the mind. Catering for the reception, ordering flowers and decorations, creating a seating chart, having name cards printed, and ordering something to hold the place cards in place at the tables must be taken care of. One of the details that seems minor on the surface, yet can create a major drama if not handled properly is shopping for the perfect placecard holders.

Place card holders can come in almost any shape, from very serious and traditional to somewhat whimsical. These items are usually chosen because they fit into the overall dcor of the reception site in a pleasing manner. Sometimes, it is wise to choose something a little different to use as placecard holders because they will also be taken home by the guests as wedding favors.

Shopping for place card holders can be an interesting diversion from the larger, more overwhelming issues involved in wedding planning. This is especially true when shopping for an item that will be a place card holder and a gift to the gifts to thank them for attending. One would not desire the items chosen to appear cheap, even though the cost is probably very reasonable.

One clear example of an item that can serve double duty as a place card holder and a wedding favor that leaps to mind is a small photo frame with the name card inside it. A wedding photo can be given later so that the frame becomes a favor with a photo inside that will always remind the recipient of this wedding. There are several different styles of such frames, from traditional desk top standing frames to glass coasters that one can slide the name card/wedding photo into and can be used in the home of the person receiving them. These types of items being used as placecard holders is a fairly common and practical method of giving wedding favors at the same time.

If one desires to have the place card holders serve that purpose only, there are several options open for small to tiny items that are slotted to allow one to slide the edge of the cards into the so that they stand up on the table, but are not overly noticeable or in the way. The final decision of what sort of placecard holders is ultimately up to the bride and groom.

Seeing the greatest selection of placecard holders from which to choose is probably best handled by shopping online. Online stores usually have a larger variety at lower prices than traditional "brick and mortar" stores are able to carry. It may take a little longer to make a selection because there are so many more choices but, in the end, the effort will prove worthwhile.

Placecard holders are just one of small details that can easily be overlooked while planning a wedding. Failure to have them when needed can be a minor problem that becomes a major catastrophe in the eyes of a bride whose special day is now less than perfect. Choosing the perfect place card holders is a responsibility that the bride and groom share, which can give them a break from the tedium of dealing with the major wedding issues.
