Motorola H550, Not Just Another Headset

By Matt Parker

In buying bluetooth headsets, more than looking into its basic function of wireless communication and data transmission, one must be keen on how else it can make his life easier and productive at the same time being practical with the amount he is investing in. The technological market offers a lot of choices from unknown brands to popular ones making it more difficult to decide. The point however is for you to optimize your purchasing power by researching on what these gadgets can do more in your daily life, one that is relatively affordable and what would somehow last.

Motorola has been an established company specializing on different technological products and services. From two-way radios, television sets, wireless broadband, and cellular phones, it has come in partnership with the people on the quality of what they offer. In this technological phenomenon, Motorola has again proven its worth when they ventured in bluetooth headsets, which drove the company to being the topnotch seller of such device. Last 2007, it has released another craft that set the bar a little higher in the bluetooth headset world.

With its slick and stylish impression, there has to be something more on what Motorola's H550 headset can do. As what most critics would say about bluetooth headsets, its limitation lies mostly in the battery life. Mostly, it struggles with energy saving that one can only use for a few hours. Contradictory to this bad review, H550 offers a notable 8 hours standby and talk time. It has engaged in this creative "power slider", just above the center of the headset, which acts as a tool in the gadget that turns off the headset when not in use. Instead of leaving it on standby mode, thus draining the battery eventually, Motorola representatives saw that this is important therefore revealed that forthcoming headsets will have this feature, which actually sets them apart from the other wireless headsets.

More than that, it has upgraded functions such as mute and un-mute, reject, answer, redial calls that deliver a higher performance. As for the sound condition, it has an improved, well-designed speaker, which helps in incoming quality audio fulfillment. It also comes with three differently shaped ear attachments that would actually ensure a perfect fit to any size of ears. The H550 also includes a USB charging connector, which will make you easily charge your headset in personal computers. Unfortunately, the kit does not come with the cable, so you have to buy it separately.

Speaking of misfortunes, in any gadget, there has to be something that would leave room for the development of the next product. Motorola's H550 shortcoming would have to be in the microphone. It is situated near the cheeks rather than the mouth. It does not also provide noise cancellation and such factors lessen the quality of the outgoing sound. Its charging port has no cover that attracts more dust and small particles. Although it has USB charging connector, it does not have a compatible car charger.

Overall, Motorola's H550 offers an improved quality that sets standards in the production of bluetooth headsets. Although it is relatively poor in outgoing audio, it has other perks in design, added features and incoming sounds. For around $40, it is quite an enticer!
