My Favorite Movies 2008 By Clarke: Download Internet Videos

By Perry White

This is a short list of movie hits for 2008. I have chosen a few of the films I enjoyed watching this year. Hopefully you will see some films here that are good viewing.

ROLE MODELS: Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (William Scott), a couple of energy drink sales people, might be seeing some hard jail time because they binged, and trashed the company truck. The option to get out of being locked up is to work in community service for 150 hours. They will have to become mentors in a big brother type situation. The pieces are all in place for this to be very funny.

IRON MAN: Playboy, engineer genius, Tony Stark is taken hostage by Afghan fighters. They command him to create weapon systems for the insurgent group. He was hurt while he was being captured, and he has shrapnel lodged in his chest. To save his life from this injury, and escape his captors, he creates a suit made of armor, that makes him super strong. Iron Man is born.

FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Ater suffering a tough split with long time girlfriend Sarah, an actress in a chessy sitcom, Peter (Jason Segal) decides to go on a trip to the Hawaiian Islands to start anew and forget about Sarah. Of course, when he checks into the resort hotel, the first people he sees are Sarah and her new man, who is a mega rock star. This sets up as a classic romantic comedy.

THE DARK KNIGHT: This time Batman, along with Lieutenant Jim Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, have been taking down the criminal elements of the city. Things are going very well, until a new criminal mastermind shows up, and attacks the city. Now, Batman really has his hands full, as the Joker has unleashed his criminal insanity on Gotham City.

TROPIC THUNDER: Overloded with good actors the genre of the film is a parody of recent war movies. To get a realistic performance from his spoiled actors to make a true epic masterpiece, the seemingly bold director into the wild jungle, and leaves them there by themselves. He hopes to frightnen them into the realism needed for a graet war film, which hidden cameras will capture. Unbelievabley, as the director blows up on an old French land mine, the crew is left on its own, and they think there acting, but the bullets flying are actually real. Stars include Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr., and Tom Cruise.

STEP BROTHERS: When two child like older men, who both live at home with one parent, are going to live in the same room because their mom and dad get married, big problems loom. With Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as the key players, and the conditions are right for lots of laughs. This film is a must see for a good time this year.

Jumper: Nearing death by drowning, David Rice discovers he has an unbelievable ability. He has the ability to teleport himself to any place he wants to go, at any time. Later, he becomes aware that there are others with this skill. Unfortunately, after a few years of fun, he finds out that there are those that want him, and all the jumpers wiped out. He must fight for his life, as these paladins believe he should die.

GET SMART: Agent 86 is back, and he has us right where he wants us. The classic James Bond spy spoof, agents hidden in plants, and the cone of silence. This is a modern day version that looks back at the world of KAOS and CONTROL.

ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: Rent is over due and Zack and Miri, platonic friends since childhoold, really need to find an answer to their money problems. The answer? Easy, start making pornos. As one can expect this seems like a good recipe for a great comedy.

These days just about everyone buys or rents films when the come out on DVD, so they can see them in the comfort of their living rooms. A more recent method for getting films is through downloads from online sources. Online providers have websites that with a membership, you can download almost any film you can think of.
