Having a Celebrity-Style Wedding Reception on a Limited Budget

By Samantha Jones

Have you always wanted a very ornate wedding reception, but have had to be satisfied with a lesser idea due to budget restrictions? You shouldn't have to change your plans. You should be able to have your special wedding day just the way you wish it, this way when you look back on the day you don't wish it had been different. Create your wedding day to be the most memorable day you have ever had. Believe it or not, you can have your celebrity-style wedding reception without it costing too much money. By thinking outside the box and using some unusual resources you can throw the kind of wedding reception that competes with the celebrity-style ones, but at a much lower cost.

Organization is a Must

Before you can truly begin getting your celebrity-type reception up and running, you need organization. Decide everything you want to include. At this point, you don't start to think money yet. You will worry about this when you reach the shopping stage, then you will see if you can do this. The top things on your list always should be where the wedding reception is being held, the decorations, drink and food, accessories such as name cards, the centerpieces, and of course what music you want.

Enlist the People You Know for Help

When you need to save money for the reception you shouldn't hire the pros to do things. Yes these people are very skilled but they come at a price! The best thing for you to do is find out which of your family and friends will help for free. Enlist the abilities of as many of these people as you possibly are able to. It can even include the younger children. The children can make the craft items including things like name cards for the tables. You can't wait until the last minute to do this though. You need to ask people in advance so you know what kind of help you will have.

Now Go Shopping

You need to grab your list of your reception ideas and head shopping. The location of your wedding reception is most likely going to be the most costly thing on your list. Inexpensive choices include things like restaurants and the church halls, they don't look cheap either. If you happen to select a restaurant, see if you can use your own plates, glasses, and utensils. You can often buy elegant-looking styles of these for under $100 at various discount shops, dependent upon the number of guests. Make it simple on the food and keep it to a few choices that your guest have to select when they RSVP to you. This helps because the caterers will charge less through this way. You can add an extra touch by placing some candy on each table. Go to crafts stores or hobby shops for your centerpieces and other decorations. You can discover many ideas for designing these things and your helpers can help make them. Name cards aren't a necessary item to have, but if you choose to assign people to certain tables, they are a big help for your guest to find their places. You can create these with the help of computer greeting card software and nice paper. You will of course need a printer for this. Unless you have a friend or family member who can provide you music cheaply skip the live band or the Deejay option. You can use a few recorded versions of your favorite music in place of this for very little expense.

Thank Your Helpers

A traditional way of thanking your helpers is a dinner with all of them like the night before after holding the rehearsal. Sometimes this is called the rehearsal dinner. You can have your reception helpers, bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents as well as of course the bride and groom there to enjoy the fun. Make sure that you thank all your helpers for all the effort they gave into your wedding and reception that will make it the best day ever.
