The Disappearance of the Class of the 50s Pinup Girls

By Ron Bergstrum

The 50s was the times of excitement for the 50s pinup girls in America. The most amazing photography and pinup art took place in this decade and it will never be repeated again, unfortunately.

There were many renowned artists that literally take your breath away like greats such as Gil Elvgren, Rolf Armstrong, Peter Driben, Earl Moran, Art Frahm, Edward Runci and of course, Alberto Vargas. These artists were world famous for their overwhelming abilities to produce breathtaking art in the form of posters, prints and photography.

Bettie Page was one of the most famous of the 50s pinup girls and stands out in history as such. She was beautiful, exciting and breath taking and made the 50s pinup girls art form what it is today. The genre would not be what it is without her.

I have collected 50s pinup girls art for a very long time. There is nothing more fun than immersing yourself in this awesome period in time and this cool genre. It is the class and tastefulness of the posters and prints of this decade that is so alluring.

Rita Hayworth was one of the most beautiful and chic of the women of the 50s pinup girls. She was the type that you could not take your eyes off of when she would see her displayed in a work of pin up art. The 1960s was the decline of pinup art and produced much trash that has corrupted the genre, but none so much as to bring a bad light to the gorgeous Rita Hayworth.

There were few that could match the gorgeous figure of Anita Ekberg during her reign as a 50s pinup girls poster model. Her image would take the breath away from many during her time and even Bob Hope commented on her beautiful figure.

There will never be another decade to match that of the 50s pinup girls art and posters. The times are gone so I do everything I can to grow my collection while some of it remains uncorrupted and available.
