2008 Box Office Hits By Druti

By Derek Fisch

I have made a sampling of the more popular movies put up on the big screen in 2008. This list consists of the movies I enjoyed watching this year. I'm sure that you can find a picture or two that are good viewing.

WHAT HAPPENS IN VEGAS: Wild and crazy nights in Las Vegas are normal. Joy and Jack, who had just met, wake up and soon realize that they had married each other the night before. After winning a huge jackpot, each thinks they deserve the prize, so they ask a judge for a decision. The strange ruling is that the two must stay married for a few months, and see if they can settle their differences. With $3 million on the line, they each try to get the other to give up, as both desire to get the money for themselves.

HAMLET 2: Unsucessful actor Dana Marshz now finds himself teaching high school theatre to apathetic students. When a building is destroyed at the school, the administration decides the useless theater coarses will have to go. With a challenge now in front of him, he is determined to save the program by producing Hamlet 2, a new version of the classic, which he creates.

WANTED: Wesley, an office worker going nowhere in life, learns that the father he never knew, is a contract killer. When his father is killed, Wesley is basically forced into the secret society of killers that his dad was a member of. He is transformed from a nobody office worker into the killing expert that is in his blood. From there, things get very complex and twisted. Enjoy this roller coaster ride.

10,000 B.C.: This film will take you back 1,000's of years. When mysterious warlords from another tribe attack the Yaghai's, they capture, among others, Evolet. A young hunter named D'Leh, who is in love with her, organizes a band of hunters to chase down these warmongers, and save her, and the rest of the captured tribe members.

JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH: Searching for his missing brother, science professor Trevor Anderson sets out on a journey that sends him into the depths of our planet. This is a newer edition of the original 1959 movie, that was formed from the science fiction book by highly acclaimed author Jules Verne. Brendan Fraser, Josh Hutchinson, Anita Briem, and Seth Myers star in this adventure film.

MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: This is obviously the next in the sequence to the hugely successful movie Madagascar. The four animal heroes, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo are ready to go back to New York's famous Central Park Zoo, which is home for them all. As oppossed to going home, thanks to those wacky Penguins again, they are off to Africa, for more adventures.

GET SMART: Maxwell Smart (agent 86) is here again, and everything is under "CONTROL". The classic James Bond spy spoof, the shoe phone, and the cone of silence. It is fun to have another glimpse back at the 1960's spy spoof series.

BOLT: Bolt: This film is an animated comedy. Bolt, is a dog who is an actor, who in his role on television, is a super hero dog. His problem is that he honestly believes he is this super hero dog with superpowers. When, by chance, he is finds himself in a real world situation, he discovers that he is just a dog. Needing to find his way home, he is aided by a cat named Mittens, and an overweight hampster named Rhino.

STEP BROTHERS: When two 40 year olds, who still live with their single parents, are going to share a room because their parents marry, we see that they are bound to have problems. Put Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as the key players, and the table is set for a very fun film. This movie is a sure fire bet for comedy lovers.

These days just about everyone buys or rents these movies, and watch them at home. A new way people are aquiring movies is through downloads from online sources. The internet has many websites that offer downloading of tons of different movies.
