This year Hollywood sent to screen more than 325 movies. Out of all these movies, something like 70, or so, are in the comedic genre. Here are a few of the better comedies produced in 2008.
MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: As the title suggests, this is the next in the sequence to the big hit film Madagascar. The four animal heroes, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo are attempting to leave Madagascar, and go back to New York's famous Central Park Zoo, which is the only home they know. As oppossed to going home, with the Penguins leading them astray, they now are headed to have more adventures first.
PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Complete stoner Dale unfortunately has just viewed a bad police officer, and a powerful drug dealer, kill someone. They see him witness the crime. Knowing they've seen him, he is so shaken he throws down his joint, a rare blend namend pineapple express, and takes off. The weed is so special, that the bad guys can track it. The "fun" is on, as Dale and his dealer Saul are on the run.
HAMLET 2: Unsucessful actor Dana Marshz has settled into teaching the high school theater classes to apathetic students. When they lose a building at the campus, the school administation feels that the useless theater coarses will be what is dropped. With a challenge now in front of him, he hopes to save the theater classes by producing Hamlet 2, an original interpretation of the Shakespeare classic, which he creates.
GET SMART: Agent 86, aka Maxwell Smart is here again, "and loving it". The evil organization (KAOS) vs the good guys (CONTROL), the shoe phone, and the cone of silence. This is a modern day version that looks back at this classic spy spoof TV series.
TROPIC THUNDER: With a collection of acting greats this film is a parody of recent war movies. To get a realistic performance from his super star cast to see the movie be a success, the seemingly bold director into the middle of nowhere, leaving them to fend for themselves. The plan is to scare them into making a war movie monster, which will be caught on hidden cameras in the area. When the director walks over a land mine and is blown apart, the spoiled actors are on their own, and they are covinced everything is just an act, but things are getting very, very real. Great cast with incredible make up for Robert Downey Jr.and Tom Cruise.
STEP BROTHERS: When two child like older men, who each live with their single parents, are going to share a room because their parents marry, big problems loom. With Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly playing the parts, and this seems to be a great recipe for a funny movie. This seems like a must see for a good time this year.
FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Ater suffering an undesired break up with his girlfriend Sarah, a television actor, Peter finally plans to go on a trip to Hawaii to get past the break up. As one might expect, upon checking into the resort, he looks up and sees Sarah and her new lover, who's bigger than life. The stage is set for a fun filled romantic comedy.
ROLE MODELS: Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (William Scott), who sell energy drinks, are looking at jail time after destroying the company vehicle while binging. The way they can avoid being locked up is to work in community service for 150 hours. The catch is they will have to mentor troubled kids as sort of a big brother. The stage is set for some good comedy.
ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: The bills are piling up and Zack and Miri, roomies who have been friends since grade school, need to make some money. What's their solution? That's obvious, make a dirty movie. As one can expect this is a perfect enviornment for a great comedy.
